But while I am writing that and while we’re on the subject of aches and pains, I thought this was a helpful little article from Yahoo! Health. The healing powers of yoga are becoming more and more evident, to the point where doctors are even recommending it to their patients. The focus on breath and the flow of the movement increases blood flow throughout the body. Increased blood flow, as we know, aids in repairing muscles and lubricating the joints (among other things). And by strengthening the mind-body connection, yoga teaches you to relax and bring calm into your life. Many people are not aware of this, but relaxation is just as important for your health and well-being as exercise!
